OUR EXPERIENCE

Carrie Johnson founded Paia in 2002 and is a specialist in sustainability strategy, reporting and environmental issues.  

With over 16 years experience she focuses on guiding companies through the strategy development and reporting process.  This includes helping companies develop their reporting process, select indicators, compile reports and review report drafts.  Carrie has also verified a number of Sustainability Reports.  

Carrie is the official trainer for CSR Reporting on behalf of ACCA, SEI and Singapore Compact.  She have also been providing both training and guidance on Sustainability Reporting in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore since 2001.    

Carrie has extensive “hands on” experience in sustainability strategy and reporting, having worked with a number of FTSE 250 companies in the UK since the mid 1990’s, assisting with the production of their sustainability reports.  Previous reporting clients include Singtel, City Developments Ltd, Keppel Land, Power Seraya, Senoko Power, ISK, Singapore Polytechnic, Railtrack, TXU Europe, British Telecom, AEA Technology and Smith & Nephew.  Several of these reports have gone on to be shortlisted for reporting awards.  

She was also a Senior Lecturer at NUS (Adjunct) teaching the “Environmental Management and Assessment” and “Business and the Environment” modules as NUS’s Masters in Environmental Management (MEM Programme) (currently on maternity leave of absence).

Graham has 12 years experience, 8 in Asia, working in sustainability, CSR, investor relations and ESG consulting and research.


He has advised both MNCs and regional companies in all aspects of sustainability, especially developing strategy and reporting/communications. Clients have included Sembcorp, CapitaLand, Chevron, Salamander Energy, Senoko Power, SingTel, ACCA, Aviva, Tanjong Plc, NTUC Fairprice, SIA Engineering Company, Petra Foods, STX PanOcean and Asia Pacific Breweries.


Research projects have included large-scale studies on corporate transparency, disclosure, CSR and SRI/ESG. In 2008 Graham was the lead author of the 'Asian Business Barometer' report which assessed the state of ESG disclosure for leading companies on four Asian stock exchanges. He was solely responsible for the research on the Business Times Corporate Transparency Index in 2004 and 2005 and produced a regional index which was published in CFO Asia in 2008.


Graham was instrumental in bringing the first IRCA accredited Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner training programme to SE Asia in 2010 and currently teaches Corporate Governance at SAICSA.  He has run both 'Introduction' and 'Advanced Sustainability/CSR Workshops' both publicly and in-house for clients in Singapore and Malaysia. He has been a judge for the ACCA Singapore Sustainability Awards for five years.
